United Support Staff Council (USSC)
USSC serves all secretaries, support staff, student supervisors and food service workers throughout District 211.
Lynn Hendricks - President
Lynn is married with three adult children, and have six amazing grandchildren. She always says, “If I knew grandchildren were this much fun, I would’ve had them first.”
In August of 2005 she started her career with District 211, as the switchboard operator, at James B. Conant High School. In 2011, she transitioned into her current roll, as their Business Clerk. In December of 2018, Lynn took on the role of, Union Vice President of Support Staff. Since then she has been able to help advocate the rights and well-being of our members, as well as help negotiate two contracts. Lynn's mission is to continue to ensure that every member feels heard, valued, and supported in their journey.
Diane Tyminski - Vice President for Support staff.
I began working at Palatine HS in 2003 in the kitchen. When a position opened in the media center, I applied and transitioned into that role. About a year and a half later, I moved into the technology department, where I continue to serve today.
Around 10 years ago, Wendy Green approached me about becoming the building union representative. I accepted and proudly served in that role for many years. Recently, I was honored to step into a new position as Vice President of the Union Support Staff. I’m excited for this next chapter and the challenges it will bring—especially as we head into contract negotiations.
This summer, I had the opportunity to attend the ULI Conference alongside our union president, Lynn, and our secretary, Jill, I participated in a class focused on contract negotiations, which was incredibly informative. I now feel more prepared and confident as we move forward.
If you know anyone who isn’t currently a member of our union but might be interested in joining, please reach out to us. We’d be happy to make an introduction and provide more information. As you know, we are only as strong as our numbers—every voice counts.
Deb Murphy - Vice President for Student Supervisors
I have worked at Palatine HS for 35 years. I started my career at PHS working in the kitchen, where I worked for nine years before accepting a student supervisor role.
Since becoming a supervisor, I’ve been an active union member, regularly attending meetings and gaining valuable insight into the work we do collectively. I’ve served as both a student supervisor representative and an alternate and been a part of several grievances for unit members with successful outcomes!
This upcoming school year, I will be stepping into contract negotiations for the first time. I’m honored to be part of this important process and am fully committed to representing the voices and interests of my colleagues. I look forward to continuing my legacy of advocacy and support as we move into the next chapter together.
Jill Maygar - Secretary
Thank you for the honor of electing me as your new Union Secretary. I’m excited to get started and wanted to briefly introduce myself.
I have worked for D211 since October 2006 and have been a Support Staff Assistant in the Faculty Service Department at Fremd High School since 2017. I am committed to serving you, and to prepare for this role, I attended the Great Lakes Union Leadership Training in Wisconsin this June, where I completed the "Introduction to Negotiations and Contract Campaigns" course.
My top priorities are to keep everyone connected by getting you meeting minutes and updates quickly, and to ensure your voice is heard by the board.
Carol Stearns - Vice President for Food Service
I’ve worked in the district for 20 years as a general worker in food service. For the past 8 years, I’ve had the honor of serving as the Vice President of Food Service in our union. During that time, I’ve been actively involved in three contract negotiations—including the very first one when our department officially joined the union.
As we prepare for another important contract year, I remain committed to advocating for meaningful improvements that directly benefit our kitchen staff. l I’ve always been committed to standing up for our kitchen staff. I’ll keep working hard to push for positive changes that make our jobs better and ensure we’re treated fairly.
Angie Johnson - Treasurer
I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself, my name is Angie Johnson, and I’m excited to be stepping into the role of Treasurer for the Support Staff Union. I’m looking forward to the upcoming school year and the chance to get to know more of you along the way.
I currently work as a 10-month AP Secretary at Palatine High School and will be starting my fourth year there. Before that, I worked at Fremd High School, also as both a 10-month AP Secretary and as a Student Supervisor. I've been part of District 211 since 2013, and I truly value the connections and experiences I've gained through the years.
I’m excited for a new year, not only with my role in the union, but also as we head into contract negotiations. I’m eager to learn, contribute, and be part of the process as we move forward together. I hope to
Glady Chiovino - Sergeant At Arms
