Happy Labor Day! We hope you enjoyed the long weekend and took a moment to reflect on the important legacy of unions and their necessity still today.
- Here’s AFT President Randi Weingarten’s Labor Day message.
Here’s a fun throwback! Last year, in our September “content to share” email, we included our disappointment that Rauner vetoed bills to raise the minimum wage for teachers and to allow graduate research assistants to unionize. Here we are one year later, under Governor Pritzker, and both of those measures have now been signed into law! Elections matter.
- Check out this link for IFT President Dan Montgomery’s statement on the teacher minimum salary bill.
Speaking of signed bills, here’s another statement from IFT President Dan Montgomery on the importance of the new PERA legislation (SB 1213). This offers teachers a fair appeal process in evaluations.
Have you downloaded the IFT app yet? It’s available in the Apple App Store. And for those of you attending Convention, keep an eye out for new features coming soon!
